In collaboration with the National Association of Women Judges, the ACTL encourages Fellows to offer this program to civic groups in their area.
This product is only available to Fellows of the ACTL. Members of the public who are interested in the program could contact a local Fellow for more information.
The Committee has prepared a short Presentation Syllabus that Fellows may share in advance with an organization interested in hosting your presentation to assist in detailing the content of the program. A potential host organization may want to preview the slide deck in advance. That is fine provided you confirm with them that it is intended to be shown only during the presentation or released as recorded video to a wider audience. One option for previewing the presentation with a potential host is to screen share the slides during a Zoom call; if you must send the slides, send a PDF copy without the notes.-

White Paper from the Advocacy in the 21st Century Committee on Virtual Proceedings in the Civil Justice System.
Discussion of the role, if any, that remote video technology might play in the administration of justice in civil justice (non-criminal) proceedings in the United States and Canada, including civil jury and non-jury trials, civil pretrial proceedings, small claims court proceedings and oral arguments on appeal of civil matters. In addressing that role, the paper considers issues such as the current state of public health; the court facilities; the equipment and training of judges and court staff; the complexity, costs and importance of the proceedings to the litigation; and the question of whether pro se litigants will be involved.
